HG IBO 1/144 Hekija Review
Alright, time to ward off evil spirits.
Today we'll be looking at Lafter Frankland's Hekija, a hybrid of Hyakuren and Hyakuri. Details will be enclosed soon.
This kit comes with only three runners and a set of polycaps. The build itself is rather simple but ends up with an amazing presentation of the Hekija.
Yeah, and an awful lot of stickers as well....
Front&Rear View
When I finished it, I have to say Hekija looks awesome. The head itself is off the charts for something that came from a Gundam franchise.
Hekija combines the aspects from Hyakuren&Hyakuri. Aspects taken from Hyakuren are its large output, hence the absurdly large Ahab Reactor, while aspects taken from Hyakuri are its superior mobility in outer space. Oh wait, both Hyakuri and Shiden also had the same reactor size...
The yellow pieces near the Ahab Reactor and the wrist cuffs are stickers. Oh yeah, tha white elbow is also a sticker.
Unlike a Zaku, GM, or a Graze, Hekija's eyes are slits. The sticker used for it is large enough to be held by fingers. That large sticker is sandwiched between the head and the front piece.
Here it is side to side with its sister unit, the Hyakuren. I don't have a Hyakuri or Shiden for comparison, so yeah..
Those lighter tones of green you see on the torso and waist are stickers. The shoulder and hip joints are supposed to have stickers, but I didn't use them because of how crappy they turned out after the joints are moved around.
Articulations wise, it's decent. Head of course won't be able to go full 360 because of its collar. Now, given that the Hekija is a Teiwaz Frame just like its sister units (save for Shiden) has real double joints in the elbows. Unlike the Hyakuren, Hekija's knee bend is somewhat limited. Hip articulations are slightly hindered by the side skirts but that's not a problem at all.
Weapons wise, Hekija comes with a bayonet rifle and the Tobiguchi Blade. Seeing the blade is like seeing that one big cleaver yanderes would use...
Comparison with Hyakuren Azee's rifle. I won't refer by Hyakuren only in this case because Amida's Hyakuren comes with a different rifle. Under the handleguard is a gap where the arm blades can fit to secure the rifle.
Teiwaz weapons have those connection points that allows them to be placed on the rear skirt. Same goes for Graze Kai II Ryusei-Go.
This is Hekija's selling point: the gimmick called Assault Form. By moving the feet up until the raised tips touch the leg and opening the shoulder thrusters, a higher level of mobility is achieved.
Oh, did I mention arm blades earlier? Yep, that small blade you see on the cuff is a melee weapon and a gimmick that secures the bayonet rifle's grip.
Like so. If the wrist joints get loose, that arm blade can be a life saver.
Verdict
Hekija is overall a good kit to pick if you're a fan of it. I personally don't like the stickers on the larger joints. Overall, it's not that bad. I highly recommend this kit for beginners due to its simple process in assembly which takes only an hour.
The head and shoulder also makes it a good material for Armored Core-themed custom builds.
Next up I'll review the kit that literally snapped me off. That kit I got before I bought Hekija. That damn kit wasting shelf space. That damn Char Aznable wannabe Zaku. Until then, see you later.
