HGUC Zeta Gundam REVIVE (Gunpla Evolution Project) Review
Can I ask you guys how long that you've been waiting for a Revive Zeta? Me personally, I've been waiting for it since it's revealed only.
Anyways, welcome to the review of the HGUC Zeta Gundam, REVIVED! Now, there's a lot to talk about, there's a lot to do, let's bust straight to the review!!
I've had assembled this kit a while ago, that's why I'm putting those runners in 'shambles'. Anyways, despite being a REVIVE version, the Zeta Gundam still heavily relies on stickers, especially for the wings. I don't understand, Bandai. Why would you guys make me slap stickers on the wings when you could just make them separate parts like the Lightning Z Gundam?!
That aside, the REVIVED Zeta has a really great color separation throughout the body only. The wings do not count.
A straight assembly gives you a new sight of the Zeta Gundam with slimmer waist and greater articulation levels. Almost everything on this kit were parts... because not only the wings have stickers, the shields also had red stickers. Man, this kit isn't so REVIVE, in terms of color separation. But everything else is great, I assure you.
And I've changed the photoshoot spot from my worktable to... a floor. But I've had the black carton sheet as my background, and it feels just right, if only I dink with my camera's ISO level. This will be better than a messy worktable, right?
Front&Rear View
Man, the stickers on the wing binders were such a damn eyesore. And I've messed up on its alignments. As I've said earlier, they'd better off as separate parts... f*** Bandai's laziness.
Articulations
Using the REVIVE engineering, the arms can move up VERY far, and there is a double-jointed elbow for each arms. As usual, biceps can swivel around at full 360. Wrists were on your standard, run off the mill ball joints.
With the REVIVE engineering, the Zeta will have a nice range of ab crunch. But however, move it any further than this and the upper torso will pop off. And reattaching it is a pain in the ass, at least for me. Well, don't forget that with a slim waist, it can rotate around, but not 360.
A beautiful split, something that I believe the older rendition cannot do.
Knees are on double joints, and the feet can move around on a double joint, as well as move back that far. The legs can kick up that far as well.
You can also do this, if you want to... but this is more for the transformation... my ass. And the booster tail will only move up and down if you ask me.
Accessories&Gimmicks
The REVIVE Zeta comes packed with a lot of accessories. And the ever-so-hated plastic block to enable its Waverider mode. Hey, I'd say partsformer HGs are better than the ever so nightmarish RG Zeta!
First, we have the beam rifle which features a sliding barrel. It also features a rotary handle for storage in Waverider mode.
You can also put a beam saber effect on the barrel tip to use it as a jitte, or for some shooting effects, which works.
Inside each forearms, there are grenade launchers. You can easily open their covers using your nail, and tuck it down.
And then comes the external magazines for the grenade launchers, which won't be having any particular use as a model kit, but will be useful for gunpla battles.
The shield, which also serves as the Waverider's nose, clips onto the forearm using a special peg. The black part features two slots for the red pegs to go into, allowing you to adjust its size.
Grenade launchers were also present beneath the shield.
And then we have the massive Hyper Mega Launcher, featuring a sliding barrel thing and mounting places for the landing gears.
With the barrel extended, it exceeds the Gundam itself height wise. Posing with this weapon is a real pain in the ass even with great arm articulations.
There were handles on each side, with folding covers.
Looks cool with the weapon equipped, but it's still a pain in the ass for me to align right.
And finally we have the beam saber, still with the same problem. Nowhere to put it in the Gundam.
Waverider Mode
Here we have the Waverider Mode. I wanted to post a video to explain the partsforming here, but it took too long and I got really impatient.
Forgot to mention the hyper mega launcher can also become a giant jitte as well.
You also get an adapter for the action base to plug the waverider in. It also works even with a simple action base like that one I'm using, from the SD BB Senshi Knight Superior Dragon.
Action
Pros:
-Fixed proportions
-Enhanced articulations
-Parts separation 9/10
Cons:
-Partsformer
-Wings' red parts still use stickers
Verdict
Forgot to mention the beam rifle can also plug into the forearm slots.
Overall, the REVIVE Zeta is a great incarnation of the legendary, grandpa transformer Gundam. With fixed proportions, almost perfect parts separation, enhanced articulations, and all, this kit makes the best REVIVE kit there is, next to the Strike Freedom Gundam.
As always, the final question here is, no. You HAVE TO buy this if you're a fan of transformable mobile suits and BIG guns! But, due to the complexity of this kit's build, I'm not gonna recommend this for beginners.
And I think that's all for this review. As always, see you next time.

have issue with the articulation of arms are so thight can break
ReplyDeleteWhich part exactly? If its the sliding parts connected to the torso just move them slowly. Same applies for the ball joints as well
