HG IBO 1/144 Gundam Flauros Review

This Gundam used to be white... this Gundam used to look epic... but after Shino touched it, it became PINK. Imagine if Shino touches the Gundam Kimaris Vidar... it'll lose its dark tones. And if he touched Gundam Bael... Agnika Kaieru will be disappointed and disgraced even after he died 300 years ago. Then McGillis will be... stoned. I guess?

Ram and Rem not included. They aren't my waifus if you ask me... they're only there to serve as sweeteners for the fierce 64th Duke of Hell. Heh, fierce? In all its pinky glory? Not so fierce anymore.. although that face though. Really fierce-looking and is out of the Gundam face stereotype save for the chin.

Okay, back to another review, this time we'll be looking at the Gundam Flauros, Norba Shino's new Gundam Frame that was found along with a Pluma.... and in the same place it was dug up, the mobile armor was also there... awakened by our royal idiot Iok Kujan. (read: Iok Herpjan)

For those of you who don't know yet, Pluma is something that looked like a mobile worker, but bigger. The mobile armor Hashmal 'breeds' these tadpoles. Well, I really like to prefer the Plumas as tadpoles because they look like it. I still have no nerve to review that giant bird thing... when I found one at an online store it costs 500k. No shiet.

Anyway, back to the actual review. Its overall proportions look great, although to me it looked like a skimpy one.. but I have no problem with that. This guy's got cool gimmicks in a good way too. You'll see what I mean later when I get to the weapons section.

Front View

 Rear View

Rear View w/out Backpack

As you can see already, Flauros' back is a different story than all other Gundam Frames, because this one actually has a back armor that holds the backpack. This is one nice touch because most Gundam Frames I see have nothing like this. I don't think if Astaroth Origin counts... dunno why.

Articulations

Head can look up neatly. But it can't really look down thanks to the pink beard thingy. That shoulder piece can also move to allow the arms to move out further.

And a full 360 is no problem since there's no obstruction around the neck.

Arms can move out this far if you move the shoulder pieces.

Forearms can swing out this far. The arm guards are also articulated. The hands are on average ball joints.

The backpack kinda becomes a hindrance for the whole arm rotation. However if you remove the backpack the arms get a full 360 rotation at the ball joints.

This thing has great articulations for the legs! Just look at it, it can sit on the ground perfectly!

And there's no problem for a full split as well!!

And as usual, the knees are on double joints. The feet are also on a ball joint and it can turn side to side as well, as every Gundam Frames should. But no. Let's put the old fat Gundam Gusion into exception.

The legs can go back like this. There are no skirt armors on Flauros, which adds for a plus to leg articulations. I forgot to mention the waist can also do a full 360 turn. This is to accomodate its alternat mode which I'll explain shortly.

Up and down are the only movements you get from the side skirts. But even that alone will suffice for a model that offers great articulation on the legs.

Not to mention.. you can turn the armguards and form a knuckle shield. This isn't a canon weapon in the anime, but it's there.

The backpack is also nicely articulated, full of joints. Why there is an eye, you ask? It'll all make sense later!

Weapons

Gundam Flauros comes with a fair amount of weapons. A little less fair without the assault knives though... you gotta buy Option Set 7 for the knives.

Not only the Grazes and Reginlazes (and a Geirail) has the 120mm rifles... Flauros also have them, exclusively made for him! And they're machineguns, not rifles!

As you can see, the handles can fold outside so the Gundam can hold it as a handheld weapon....

.... like so.

And the railguns can be fired in MS mode. Now I want to tell some anime-related story of this railgun: It was actually an inhumane weapon because it fires nanolaminate projectiles that can pierce nanolaminate armors. It was then banned by Gjallarhorn and thus Tekkadan uses conventional warheads that were in the gray area of the ban. And then Gjallarhorn used the illegal railguns (read: Dainsleifs) for themselves. What a screwed up irony...

An organization who banned the use of Dainsleifs and then using them to annihilate the Turbines... no wonder the young officers of Gjallarhorn performed a coup d'etat under McGillis' lead.

Okay... now it's time to get into this model kit's selling point!! And it'll be.... the mode that made this Gundam deserved the name Flauros..... Shelling Mode!!

Yes, I am taking these photos at my rooftop to add some epic points. If the ground it's sitting on were red rocks, then we can replicate the scene where the Flauros takes aim to separate the mobile armor from its tadpole minions.

For comparison, here it is with a Gjallarhorn mobile worker. Just to give you a sense of scale.

Shino: The idiot's house? Which one..? Roger that, I'll destroy it now!

Rear view for Shelling Mode. Taken on the rooftop. Man I have to say Shelling Mode is really windproof. It doesn't budge an inch when there were winds up here! And the railguns only wiggle slightly from the wind.

Oh, I forgot to mention that in Shelling Mode the railguns connect to the rear pieces where the two Ahab Reactors will directly power them and give them explosive speed shooting and super long distances. Also, there used to be two joints on the backpack, right? In this mode, only one joint moves.

Action Poses

I didn't get ideas for the poses.. so these are the best I can do.

Pros:

-Shelling Mode's really cute
-Good gimmicks
-Options with the machineguns
-Great leg articulations
-Fierce face

Cons:

-IT'S FREAKIN' PINK! Seriously Shino? Every single mobile suit you touch becomes pink! Although not as pink as Yuno Gasai's hair.

Verdict

This Gundam is really great in my opinion. It trult deserves the name Flauros thanks to its fierce face and its quadruped Shelling Mode, because the demon Flauros is depicted as a leopard that can transform into a man with fierce expression. This is reflected on the Gundam perfectly.

If you wanna get it, then DO IT! JUST DO IT! Or else Shia LaBeouf won't stop motivating you until you buy it! And if you're not a fan of the pink colors like me, take a look at the P-Bandai Gundam Flauros Calamity War version and adapt its color scheme to your Flauros with airbrushes, spray cans, whatever you wish. And whatever you got.

Ah well, my only complains were the short cannons and assault knives are in Option Set 7.. anyways that's my review on the Gundam Flauros and see you next time.

BUT WAIT!! I can smell vengeance on the air... this might affect my next review by any means!! Stay tuned!
