HGBF 1/144 Lunagazer Gundam Review

Again, never I thought that I would be reviewing another HGBF, this time based off of the Stargazer Gundam built using the legendary Hyaku-Shiki as its platform. As the result, we get a Hyaku-Shiki with Voiture Lumieres all around its body. Anyways, welcome to the review of Lunagazer Gundam, Lady Kawaguchi's ever evolving cold queen that lights the dark, although not as bright as Garo did.

Lunagazer Gundam is technically a Hyaku-Shiki, so to speak. It's not a Stargazer anymore, and the said Gundam's aspects seen are only the new forearm guards, rifle barrel, antenna, torso, and the Voiture Lumiere covering the whole body. The rest is from Hyaku-Shiki with no real changes except for the feet.

All of the pictures taken are the Gundam with its subsystem activated. However I still have the picture of its deactivated mode in my Rin Tohsaka 2.0 review. If you wanna see it, go back to the previous review then.... well, I'm sure some of you who know this blog have already seen it.

Front&Rear View

Stickers are used for the sensors, eyes, and Voiture Lumiere psycoframe wannabe parts. As you can see, it's still a Hyaku-Shiki. The head itself is a Hyaku-Shiki mixed with Stargazer's traits, the large cheeks and antenna.

As for the white colors, they're not pure white, something that I'm not expecting to see. If only Bandai colored it pure white I'll be most amused. And by the way, those who paint will be really annoyed to make the Gundam eyes. Why? Because it suffers from a flat surface on the eyes, inherited from the Hyaku-Shiki! But still, there's a visor that protects the stickers so it won't matter that much.

Comparison w/AMSFG

Comparison w/Zeta Gundam (Evolution Project)

I don't have a Revive Hyaku-Shiki to compare Lunagazer, so here it is with the newest reincarnation of Zeta Gundam. Review coming soon.

Articulations

Head can move up pretty far.

And look down that far.

It can also do a 360, which surprised me.

Arms can swing out that far, a bicep swivel is present as always, and wrists are on ball joints.

Shoulders can swing forward.

Not much of a back arching, but there's an decent ab crunch.

Front skirts can be clipped to allow individual movement, and side skirts can only swing outside without any rotation, due to the way they're designed.

Legs can move out standardly, knees are on double joints, and the foot is on a ball joint. No toe movement.

No need to explain this.

A nice split.

Accessories&Gimmicks

Lunagazer Gundam didn't come with much of an accessory. It only came with a pair of closed fists, a beam rifle, an adapter to connect the Stargazer Gundam's backpack, and Hyaku-Shiki's head cast in the same milky white. Well, you also get a torso for the Hyaku-Shiki, given that majority of the runners of this kit are from Hyaku-Shiki, but I've lost that part.

The beam rifle requires you to remove the hand covers for it to attach. and it's kind of a pain in the ass, looking on how the forearm guards are hindering the assembly. It's not an ideal design to hold various weapons to be honest.

You also get beam sabers.... again, same as AMSFG, handles only. I won't bother. As you can see, the forearm guards aren't suitable for beam sabers.

And you also get the clay bazooka for Hyaku-Shiki. Might as well give it to another kit. But the Lunagazer's backpack can store it, because it's still the backpack from Hyaku-Shiki.

Moving on to the main event of the Gundam, which is the wing binders. You can basically play with the wings in any way you want, as these binders are articulated.

Rotations and side-to-side movements are present on the binders.

And you can form the iconic ring crap of Stargazer Gundam, poorly recreated in Lunagazer. But it's still something you can do. This is the real pain in the ass to align correctly...

Action

And I broke the action base the Lunagazer was on like a dumbass.

Pros:

-Solid kit
-A nice touch for the Hyaku-Shiki build custom

Cons:

-The white colors aren't pure, they're milky

Verdict

I won't say Lunagazer is bad, no. It's pretty elegant and nice-looking compared to the old Stargazer. I won't say much about it for this time.

But still, it's another great kit from the HGBF line with no visible seamlines, like the AMSFG. I'd suggest this kit for Stargazer Gundam and Hyaku-Shiki fans, because technically you're having both of those kits in the Lunagazer.

And the common question is, buy or pass? I'd say both. Buy it if you like it, pass it if you don't.

And I think that's all for the review, as always, see you next time.
